Triple Melbourne Cup winning mare MAKYBE DIVA gave birth this morning to her third foal, a magnificent Bay Encosta De Lago Colt at 1.30am at Segenhoe Stud in the Hunter Valley.
It was a cause for double celebration for owner Tony Santic, as later that same morning the Diva's mother TUGELA delivered a lovely Bay Filly by Redoute's Choice in the paddock only meters away.
These two girls never cease to amaze me, the Diva seems to be taking over the reins from her mum in the Broodmare stakes" , Santic joked.
"We're heading to the Hunter next week...I'm really looking forward to seeing them".
MAKYBE DIVA will head to Vinery to be served by More Than Ready, Australasia's Champion 2YO Sire, before heading home to MAKYBE Victoria with her latest addition. TUGELA will head to Darley for her ‘date' with Street Cry, one of the hottest stallions on offer.
The Street Cry family is becoming quite familiar to MAKYBE with their latest acquisition attaining the Southern Hemisphere breeding rights to his Grade 1 winning son from Kentucky, STREET HERO.
STREET HERO, rated one of the top American 2Y0's last year is due to arrive at MAKYBE next week to stand alongside foundation stallion PURREALIST. He is from an outstanding stallion producing family that includes Weekend Surprise, Lassie Dear and Source Sucree all champion producers. He is also from the family of triple Oaks winner November Rain.
Breeders will get their first chance to view this powerful son of Street Cry in the flesh, along with Purrealist and his outstanding first crop of foals at the MAKYBE Stallion Parade on Sunday 13 September.
