Mount Pleasant wins second Group 2 in South Africa

Life In A Metro 17

Mount Pleasant maintained his unbeaten record whilst notching up his second victory at Group 2 level on Saturday in the Joburg Sprint Challenge. In his first start this prep, the Makybe bred 3-year-old stepped up against the older horses in weight-for-age 1450m at Turfontein. Not yet fully wound up according to his trainer, it was exciting to see him show that he has definitely trained on from an impressive two year old season.

The Mike De Kock trained colt has big ambitions too, with De Kock declaring that he may be aimed at a Group 1 in Australia at some point in the future. But before that he has some more South African targets that he has lined up, including the Sun Met at Kenilworth (South Africa’s richest race).

The penultimate foal out of Life in a Metro, Mount Pleasant was sold at Inglis Premier by Two Bays Farm on behalf of Makybe for $90,000.

Life in a Metro unfortunately was lost to colic in the Hunter Valley last year after delivering a Sebring colt.
