Premier thoroughbred stud farm in Victoria

Tony Santic leads MAKYBE into the future

MAKYBE was acquired by Tony Santic in 2003, originally as a 1200-hectare or 3000-acre farm. It was downsized in 2012 to 200 hectares, or 500 acres, to focus on quality. MAKYBE is a boutique horseracing stud farm that now allows for unparalleled attention in producing and racing superior bloodstock.

As well as racing legend and three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva, MAKYBE has produced high-profile horses including Starspangledbanner, Gold Anthem, Headway and Makybe Diva foal Divination.

The Farm

The young horses are grown out on roaming hilly paddocks, with plenty of space for building bone strength and muscle. MAKYBE’s breeding team works with an agronomist to ensure all paddocks are primed for the stock. All dietary requirements are supplemented to ensure the horses are grown out in an even and consistent manner, and individualised where needed.

There is a team of 10 dedicated staff at MAKYBE’s thoroughbred stud farm in Victoria. Each member brings something special to their area of expertise, from a racing manager who has trained horses successfully at group level, to a fully qualified vet nurse. Each staff member is passionate and fully committed to the welfare of MAKYBE bloodstock.

MAKYBE racing

Since the downsize in 2012, MAKYBE continues to produce horse racing champions including Mr Stunning, Amicus, Cést Beau la Vie, Jolly Banner and A Touch of Mink, and consistently performs well at sales across Australia.
