MAKYBE is delighted to announce its highly credentialed stallion STREET HERO back for his second season at MAKYBE in 2010 had his first Australian foal early Saturday morning.
The strong chestnut colt out of the Danehill mare Quiet Name has four white socks and a distinctive white star on his forehead.
“I am wrapped with his first foal. He’s a real strong colt with plenty of leg and he looks like a racy type like STREET HERO,” said MAKYBE principal, Tony Santic.
“The feedback on his first foals in the US was all positive and we are really looking forward to more of his Australian foals this season. We sent him some real quality mares to kick start his stud career in Australia and judging by his first foal he’s a real chance of making it,” said Santic.
"He’s a cracking colt with plenty of presence like his sire and is the best foal bred on the farm so far,” said an equally delighted Scott Holcombe, MAKYBE Stud Manager.
STREET HERO will cover another quality book of mares at MAKYBE this season and has arrived in great order according to Holcombe. “He has always been a lovely horse but he has let down magnificently since last year and has furnished into a real stallion,” said Holcombe.
Rated one of the highest 2YO'S of his generation during the 2008 Racing Season in the US, STREET HERO defeated eventual champion Midshipman by winning the G1 Norfolk Stakes. Placed in both the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and G1 Del Mar Futurity, STREET HERO never finished worse than 3rd in a race career of just 6 starts.
A precocious colt who retired early due to injury, STREET HERO showed an amazing turn of foot in his races and was extremely versatile performing over distances ranging from 1100m to 1700m.
STREET HERO is a son of Street Cry, an exceptional young superstar stallion producing Group 1 winners in each of his three crops, including Melbourne Cup winner Shocking and champion Australian 3YO Whobegotyou.
He is out of the stakes placed dam Squall Linda by Preakness Stakes winner Summer Squall. It is a proven family of black type winners, including a variety of renowned Australian performers; multiple G1 OAKS filly November Rain along with Race Master, Star Style Girl and more recently the outstanding sprinting mare Dubleanny. Last month STREET HERO’s two year old half brother Premier Pegausus won on debut at Del Mar beating a high quality field of Breeders Cup Juvenile hopefuls.
STREET HERO will feature at Geelong racecourse along with PURREALIST this Friday September 3. The parade can be viewed on TVN during the coverage of the Geelong races between races 4 and 5 at approximately 2pm.
