At the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, MAKYBE for two years running achieved the highest price lot for a Victorian prepared horse with a bay filly by Fastnet Rock out of Prospering, a grand daughter of Oakleigh Plate winner, Dantelah. After a spirited bidding duel she was knocked down to her sire's trainer Paul Perry for $320,000.
She was a hugely popular filly all week and many of the industry's best judges inspected her on multiple occasions. Paul Perry always seems to have a top horse in his stables and there is every indication this filly will add to the list of Choisir, Fastnet Rock and Stratum who are just three of the stars to emerge from Paul Perry's Newcastle stables in recent years. She is a very athletic filly with a lot of scope about her and she is expected to excel up to the mile.
Focus now is on Melbourne Premier with 30 yearlings to go under the hammer at Oaklands Junction starting March 1st. This year's draft features two fillies by Australian champion sire Encosta de Lago and three colts by boom sire Lonhro. Also the draft features a half-sister to the MAKYBE bred and sold VRC Oak's winner Arapaho Miss.
