STREET HERO’s Fabulous Family

6 August 2010

Recent events in the US both on the track and in the sale ring have put the writing on the wall that MAKYBE’s exciting young sire STREET HERO (pictured last month in America) is destined for great things.

On Saturday 24th July at a major meeting in Del Mar, one of the premier racetracks in the US, Street Hero’s half brother, Premier Pegasus (by Fusaichi Pegasus), won impressively on debut.

He led all the way in the 5 1-2 furlong race in the time of 1:04.42, finishing a length in front of the well-regarded Rock So Hard and the highly rated, Just Imagine.

Premier Pegasus, is bred, owned and trained by Street Hero’s owner-breeder Myung Kwon Cho and races in the same purple and yellow colours.

MAKYBE can reveal that Premier Pegasus pulled up exceptionally well from the race and is likely to be aimed at the Gr 1 Futurity Stakes. If augurs well from there it is highly likely he will be set for the richest two year old race in America, the Gr 1 Breeders Cup Juvenile. Street Hero was arguably an unlucky third in the Gr 1 Futurity when he charged late “like a rocket” in the words of the caller.

Whilst Street Hero’s dam Squall Linda excelled with Street Hero's half brother on the track, his sire Street Cry was creating headlines in the sale ring at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearling Sale.

The highest price achieved for a yearling by Street Cry was US$800,000 a dark bay or brown colt out of the A P Indy mare Don't Tacha Me, a half-sister to the G1-winning sire One Cool Cat. A Street Cry filly out of Stakes-performed A P Indy mare Alchemist was knocked down for US$775,000.

On the second and final day of the sale a Street Cry colt fetched US$650,000 out of multiple Gr2-winning Boston Harbor mare My Boston Gal, consigned by Lane's End as agent.

Street Cry’s average for the sale was well over the US$500,000 mark placing him as one of the top sires for the sale. But it is through the deeds of his progeny on the racetrack where Street Cry is most revered.

Apart from the fact that he has the best mare in the world at present in the undefeated Zenyatta, in Australia this spring he is represented by Melbourne Cup winner Shocking, Champion three year old and Gr 1 Yallumba winner Whobegotyou and the Group winner Predatory Pricer.

And look out for the next wave of Street Crys coming through! Recent two year old racing has unearthed at least two top line Street Cry three year olds to watch out for this spring including, Too Deadly and Liveandletdie both nominated for the Caulfield Guineas.

As the only Gr 1 winning son of Street Cry standing outside the Hunter Valley, Street Hero is exceptional value for breeders looking to tap into a world class family that is performing both on the track and in the sale ring. He stands for $12,000 ex GST.

Arriving in mid August to MAKYBE for his second season for bookings and enquiries please contact Andrew Augustine on 0403 655 704.
