MAKYBE BRED WINNING RUN CONTINUES
17 November 2008
Horses bred by Tony Santic's Makybe operation have been enjoying a winning run of late with Sheikh Mohammed's colours carried to victory aboard another of them in the Redoute's Choice filly Contortion who saluted at Warwick Farm on Tuesday.
A $500,000 purchase for Woodlands Stud from the Makybe draft at the 2007 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Contortion was resuming from a spell and proved too good for the older mares in taking the maiden event over 1100 metres by a length at her fourth race start.
Contortion is the first foal of the Group Two placed Fuji Kiseki (Jpn) mare It's Who Deanie, who has a yearling filly by Encosta de Lago and produced another filly by the same sire this spring.
Makybe have bred recent two year-old winners Corsaire, winner of the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes, and Starspangledbanner, as well as spring stakes-winners Musket and My Vegas.
Based in Victoria, Makybe will be selling at the major Australian yearling sales in 2009.
