MAKYBE Racing and Breeding is thrilled to announce the arrival of STREET HERO who was welcomed today by another group of famous street hero's at Tony Santic's magnificent 3200 acre breeding complex situated just outside Geelong, Victoria.
In the waiting at the MAKYBE Stallion Barn was Batman, Robin and Wonder Woman all excited to finally meet the new hero in town from Kentucky for the breeding season to stand alongside Purrealist at the home of triple Melbourne Cup winning mare Makybe Diva.
STREET HERO, rated one of the top American 2YO's for the 2008 season is a Grade 1 winner and was never unplaced in his 6 career starts including three major Grade 1 races; the Norfolk Stakes, Breeders Cup Juvenile and Del Mar Futurity.
Like any hero, this exciting son of superstar stallion Street Cry, was a precocious racehorse who displayed his talent throughout his short but impressive racing career which ended all too soon due to injury.
A magnificent looking individual, STREET HERO, is sure to impress breeders on inspection. Strong and powerful standing at 16.1hh, breeders will have their first chance to view STREET HERO at MAKYBE this coming Sunday.
The Super Hero trio of Batman, Robin and Wonder Woman display an ideal likeness to the MAKYBE heroes. Makybe Diva, who is Wonder Woman herself, will keep the dynamic duo of STREET HERO and Purrealist in check as she saunters past the stallion barn to her lush paddock nestled alongside the Barwon River at the property named in her honour.
MAKYBE owner and breeder, Tony Santic, was excited to finally sight his new addition to the Stallion Barn, which he opened last year with foundation stallion Purrealist.
"After seeing Street Hero's race footage I was convinced he would be an ideal option to stand beside Purrealist at MAKYBE. We sent Scott our Stud Manager to Kentucky who was equally impressed on inspecting the horse.
"Our Stallion Barn was complete for some time before we stood Purrealist. I don't want to just fill the barn, our team goes through an extensive selection process and I am confident Street Hero is a great choice and opportunity for Victorian Breeders.
"Purrealist is doing extremely well and after seeing his foals I'm convinced we started on the right foot. Let's hope Street Hero lives up to his name!" Santic explained.
The MAKYBE breeding operation has delivered some outstanding results on the track producing a number of winners off the farm and being awarded Victoria Breeder of the Year last season.
True to form, Santic is heavily supporting STREET HERO with a number of his top quality mares including Celtic Reign the half sister to the legendary Makybe Diva; Gold Anthem, stakes placed mare from the Circles of Gold family and dam of Group winner and star colt STARSPANGLEDBANNER and Crystal Choir, a daughter of Singspiel and mother of one foal to race, Corsaire, a stakes winning and Group placed filly with this year's Spring Carnival in her sights.
Adding further strength to STREET HERO'S mare book are client bookings highlighted by Amandine, the dam of one of Australia's most exciting gallopers MIC MAC along with Girl On The Game, a half sister to Group 1 Sprinter BLACK BEAN and Queen Of The Falls, out of multiple Group and Stakes winning Danehill mare NIAGRA FALLS.
MAKYBE Stud Manager Scott Holcombe is looking forward to showing off STREET HERO this Sunday along with Purrealist and a number of his first foals.
"Street Hero already has a number of bookings along with tentatives waiting to see him. Once breeders sight him I'm sure his book will be near full as he is so impressive!" Holcombe enthused.
Equally interesting will be the preview of Purrealist and his first foals. The son of Tale Of The Cat served an impressive book of 118 mares in his first season and his progeny so far are displaying both their father and grandfather's key traits.
Purrealist first season book included Bardego, a Group winner and dam of exciting 2YO Delago Bolt; Gold Anthem, dam of stakes performers Gold Chant and the brilliant, Group winning colt, STARSPANGLEDBANNER and Calm Smytzer, 8 times stakes placed race mare and dam of 2 winners in Copybook and 2YO Quietzer.
"Purrealist has let down in to a lovely stallion who has a fantastic attitude. I am delighted with what I have seen of his foals so far and couldn't be happier with how this horse has progressed," Holcombe advised.
Breeders are welcome to join the MAKYBE team this coming Sunday for an exclusive preview of the MAKYBE heroes from 11am. RSVP is essential by contacting Tel: (03) 5265 1506 or info@makybe.com.au
