Champion American Street Cry mare, Zenyatta by the same sire as MAKYBE's new stallion Street Hero made it eleven wins on the trot and brought up her fourth group one win with an emphatic victory in the Vanity Handicap at Hollywood Park on the 27th of June. It brought up consecutive victories in the race for Zenyatta.
As she made her move in the straight the caller let go a roar, "Here's The Real Zen Master." She put paid to them in a few strides with incredible acceleration and a raced away to an emphatic victory.
Zenyatta has captivated the imagination of the public similarly to a certain Australian mare residing at MAKYBE.
The American public are crying out for a thoroughbred showdown between Zenyatta-the perfect 11-for-11, five-time Grade One winning mare, versus Rachel Alexandra-the first filly to win the Preakness in 85 years.
A clash between the pair would rock the turn styles and shake the grandstands when and wherever they race. Americans are hailing it as the greatest match race since War Admiral and Seabiscuit in 1938.
With two contrasting racing styles with Zenyatta a barnstorming finisher and Rachel Alexandra a free wheeling front runner it will be an awesome spectacle.
Zenyatta is out of the mare, Vertigineux, her damsire was the outstanding stallion, Kris S from the Roberto line. She was purchased as a yearling for $60,000 at Keenland.
Trained by John Shirreffs, California-based Zenyatta did not begin racing until she was three years old, making a winning debut in late November 2007.
Last October she was sent off as the 1-2 favorite for the Breeders Cup Ladies' Classic at Santa Anita. Zenyatta travelled at the back of the pack until the final turn, where she made a breath-taking move to capture the lead with 200 yard to go. She was awarded the Eclipse Award as American Champion Older Female Horse for 2008.
Street Hero along with Zenyatta is one of nine Group One winners for Street Cry who has taken all before him in just 6 crops to race. His stakes winners' to runners' percentage is an impressive 8.5%. Street Cry had Gr 1 winners in each of his first three crops including eight in his first two.
Group 1 Caulfield Guineas winner and top-rated three year old Whobegotyou and Gr 1 colt Predatory Pricer head his Australian winners. Shocking brilliant runner up in the Queensland Derby looks poised for a huge Spring and a likely type to add to Street Cry's Group one tally.
Street Hero stands for $16,500 (including GST) at MAKYBE. For bookings or information on Street Hero please contact Andrew Augustine on 0403 655 704.
